This was their fourth trip with Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT), a company they (and a number of their friends) highly recommend. Linda is happy to speak with anyone about this company. As she understands, the company first began by providing reasonably priced travel to teachers, but has expanded out for some time now, to any traveler 50+ years in age. They particularly provide options for single travelers as well. OAT is frequently highlighted on NPR and offers travel around the globe.
This particular trip is one of two offered by OAT featuring the sub-continent. They chose the Northern India trip as they wanted to make sure to see the Taj Mahal, which was spectacular by the way! Their itinerary began in Delhi, then proceeded to Jaipur--pink city; Ranthambore Park--Bengal tiger reserves also in Rajastan; Agra--Taj Mahal; Khajoraho--World Heritage Site for Temples; and Varanasi-- sacred city on the Ganges. It was an extraordinary trip on so many levels. Below is Linda's summary that she posted on FB upon their return. She is still dreaming of India......
"I have been blessed by a holy man in an ancient Hindu temple; I have been purified by the waters of the sacred river Ganges; I have stared in awe at a magnificent Bengal tigress; I have been greeted by hundreds of cheering Indians upon landing in a field in a hot air balloon in rural India; I have made bread alongside monks in a Sikh temple; I have prayed at the tomb of Mahatma Gandhi; I have been dressed in the silken luxury of a jewel-toned sari; I have slept in a palace deep in the jungle of Rajastan; I have gazed in wonder at hundreds of holy cows; I have watched mesmerized in the moonlight dancing desert nomads; I have gasped at the unimaginable beauty of the Taj Mahal; I have listened to the haunting music of the sitar; I have savored the most wonderful flavors and spices of the Indian cuisine; I have meditated with a yog master. I have soaked up every smell, sight, sound, and taste this exotic land has to offer. Namaste India."
