Who We Are

Sno-King School Retirees is a non-profit association whose purpose is to promote the general welfare of its members, public education and good citizenship by:

  • Promoting the economic, social, and professional status of retired educators and school employees
  • Cooperating with the State and National Retired Teachers Associations
  • Cooperating with the AARP in helping advance the interests and welfare of all retired persons
  • Aiding in the advancement of education and helping retired educators and school employees maintain identity with their profession
  • Providing opportunity for meaningful contact with friends and associates and encouraging members to maintain interest and participation in the Association, educational and community affairs
  • Presenting the image of aging as one of dignity, independence, and purpose
  • Encouraging active educators and school employees to prepare for retirement.

Our membership hovers around 1200 members, 60% retired, 40% active from three school districts, Edmonds, Northshore and Shoreline. Some of our members live in the area but may have taught in other districts. You can find a membership form on the Membership Page.

Our retired and active membership includes teachers, support service personnel, administrators, and classified persons.

The Sno-King Bulletin, our news letter, is sent to each member's home about 7-10 days before our meetings. Each member also receives a Directory of our complete membership.

SKSR has 6 meetings yearly. Generally meetings are held at the Edmonds School District Board Room, 20420 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood. Check out the Events Calendar for this month's meeting location. Our annual picnic honoring new retirees is scheduled for July. We  meet in September, November, February, April, May and July.

SKSR sponsors a number of events to raise funds for our scholarship fund. Each year SKSR provides four $1000 scholarships to students who will major in education from each district, Edmonds, Northshore, and Shoreline. SKSR also funds a grant program where active members may apply for funds for a special project up to $200.
