Below you will find information about this year's grants availability. At the bottom is the Application in Word format and PDF and FAQs in Word format and PDF.
The following information is current for grants offered during the 2025-26 school year.

Applications will be accepted starting Sept. 1, 2025.
Each fall SKSR offers its active members in good standing the opportunity to apply for educational grants of up to $400 to facilitate their work with their students.  Grants must have a direct, positive effect/impact on students in their building and meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • Enrich the classroom experience of students,
  • Promote active student involvement,
  • Provide experiences that students may otherwise be unlikely to have at school,
  • Augment existing curriculum.

Past grants have included requests for fieldtrip transportation and admission costs, speaker and student workshop fees, themed books to supplement a unit of study, manipulatives to teach math concepts, materials to create a maker station, materials to support the family component of a school-wide program, supplemental p. e. equipment, and picture books for school psychologists to teach lessons on topics such as bullying.

Grant Eligibility:
  • Be an active (employed) SKSR member of any school employee group that works with students in the Edmonds, Northshore, or Shoreline School Districts.
  • If not a current SKSR member, submit a completed membership form to the Membership Chair by Friday, Oct. 31.  (You may request a membership form from Jim Siscel, SKSR Membership Chair, at [email protected] or 425-778-7202 or print the file indicated under the Join SKSR and WSSRA button above.)
  • Have received less than $1,000 total in previous SKSR grants OR not received a grant in the previous three years (i.e., the last award was before the 2022-2023 school year).  Contact Karen McElliott ([email protected]) if you are uncertain.

  • In order to be considered by the Grants Committee, the grant money must be used on behalf of the students in the building/location where you perform your educational duties.  SKSR does not fund requests for staff development (e.g., conference registration costs).
  • All submitted applications must use the 2025-26 form and must be word-processed.

Scoring Criteria:
  • Application is complete and accurate.
  • Grant request meets at least one of the four purposes listed above.
  • Explanation clearly describes the proposal (i.e., reason for request, use of money, intended impact).
  • Description clearly reflects a connection to a curricular area of study or to a school-wide goal/program.
  • Budget is complete, detailed, accurate, and verifiable. Applications missing itemized budgets will not be accepted.
  • Number of previous SKSR grants awarded.
Copy the revised application form below, complete it, have your principal sign it, and email it to Karen McElliott ([email protected]).  Afterward, check your district email for confirmation that your grant application has been received.

If you any questions and concerns, check the Grant FAQs on this website, or you may contact Karen at the email above.

APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY Midnight, Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025.

Must be an SKSR member as of Friday, Oct. 31, 2025.
