The following information is current for the grant period for this 2022-2023 school year.

Applications will be accepted starting September 1, 2022.
Each fall SKSR offers its active members in good standing the opportunity to apply for educational grants of up to $300 to facilitate their work with their students.  Grants must have a direct, positive effect/impact on students in their building and meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • Enrich the classroom experience of students,
  • Promote active student involvement,
  • Provide experiences that students may otherwise be unlikely to have at school,
  • Augment existing curriculum.

Past grants have included requests for fieldtrip transportation and admission costs, speaker and student workshop fees, themed books to supplement a unit of study, manipulatives to teach math concepts, materials to create a maker station, materials to support the family component of a school-wide program, and picture books for school psychologists to use in teaching lessons on topics such as bullying

Grant Eligibility:
  • Be an active (employed) member of any school employee group that works with students in the Edmonds, Northshore, or Shoreline School Districts.
  • If not a current SKSR member, submit a completed membership form to the Membership Chair by Friday, Oct. 28.  (You may request a membership form from Jim Siscel, SKSR Membership Chair, at jsiscel@comcast.net or 425-778-7202 or print the file indicated under the Join SKSR and WSSRA button above).
  • Have received less than $1,000 total in previous SKSR grants OR not received a grant in the previous three years (i.e., the last award was before the 2019-2020 school year).  If you are uncertain whether your received grants total $1000 or more and need to allow three school years before applying for a new grant, you can email Karen McElliott at ksmcelliott@gmail.com, she will check the SKSR grant records.
  • In order to be considered by the Grants Committee, the grant money must be used on behalf of the students in the building/location where you perform your educational duties.
  • All grants must be word-processed.

Scoring Criteria:
  • Application is complete and accurate.
  • Grant request meets at least one of the four purposes listed above.
  • Explanation clearly describes the proposal (i.e., reason for request, use of money, intended impact).
  • Description clearly reflects a connection to a curricular area of study or a school-wide goal/program.
  • Budget is complete, detailed, accurate, and verifiable.
  • Number of previous SKSR grants awarded.

Copy the application below, complete it, and email it to Karen McElliott at ksmcelliott@gmail.com.  Afterward, check your district email for confirmation that your grant application has been received.  (If you have any questions, check the Grant FAQs on this website or contact Karen at the above address.)

APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022.

Must be a SKSR member as of Friday, October 28, 2022.
